Theme: Voyaging Towards Excellence by Achyut Godbole

 Achyut Godbole's autobiographical sketch describes his journey from a middle-class schoolboy to a famous writer. He served as the General Manager of Patni Computer Systems for many years. After leading many other prestigious companies, he became a well-known writer.

 Throughout the writing, he discusses his quest for excellence and how he developed a thirst for knowledge. The author discusses at length the ingredients that are essential to success and how to achieve it.

अच्युत गोडबोले यांनी लिहिलेल्या या आत्मचरित्रात्मक रेखाटनात मध्यमवर्गीय शाळकरी मुलापासून ते प्रसिद्ध लेखकापर्यंतचा त्यांचा प्रवास दाखवला आहे. पटनी संगणक प्रणालीचे ते यशस्वी महाव्यवस्थापक होते. त्यांनी इतर अनेक नामांकित कंपन्यांचे नेतृत्व केले आणि नंतर ते प्रसिद्ध लेखक बनले.

सध्याच्या लेखनात त्याच्या उत्कृष्टतेच्या शोधाची चर्चा आहे, त्यांना ज्ञानाची तहान कशी निर्माण झाली. तो यशाचे घटक/आवश्यक घटक आणि ते मिळवण्याचे मार्ग यावर विस्तृत चर्चा करतात.

1. What does rich childhood mean?

Ans- It means the experience or exposure one has of a particular thing, which later cause a great interest in the life of a person. For example, the writer in his childhood had cultural exposure in the form of the great poets like: Vinda Karandikar, Mangesh Padgaonkar, and Vasant Bapat, who had the discussion about the great artist such as Shakespeare, Charles Dickens and so on, with his father.


2. How do arts, music, and literature enrich our lives?

Ans – Arts, music,and literature,they enrich our lives as they put meaning to our existence.


3. Why should you study any subject ?

Ans-Because of their inherent beauty.


The writer developed a problem-solving attitude because…

Ans-(1)He used to study Science and Maths for their inherent beauty. Therefore ,he would solve the problem of Maths and Physics of standard 9th, when he was in standard 7th.

(2) He used to enjoy finding out the most elegant method of solving them.


What are the achievements of the writer in Mathematics?

Ans—He scored 100% in Mathematics in almost all the examinations that he appeared for from his 1st standard until IIT except a few.


Why was the writer's joy short-lived?

Ans—Because at IIT, most of the students and professors used to converse in English, whereas writer's English was poor. In addition, the writer had an entire education in Marathi. His Spoken English was pathetic, and his pronunciation was terrible. As a result, he developed an inferiority complex.

Ans—Because he never studied for scoring marks in any examination.
But there was a sea of knowledge in front of him, which he thought was necessary to pass

the examination of life.

Ans-Because of curiosity that humans have been able to make such great progress in science
and technology and due to humanity, humans can have concern for other fellow human beings.

Ans – Writer wrote about 34 books in Marathi and most of them became bestsellers.

These books brought good changes in the lives of thousands of readers. His books "Musafir" and

book on psychology, " Manat" helped hundreds to come out of depression, and also helped a dozen

to give up thoughts of committing suicide.
