The theme of the poem "Money"
The poem is about a rich man who wants to become poor in order to find real happiness. Contrary to this, you cannot disregard the value of money, especially if you are short of money or have lost money in the past.
The first stanza deals with when the poet discovers the real joy as he becomes poor. He now has a few friends who visit him. Therefore, he knows who the false friends are.
The second stanza is concerned with the poet's feelings as a child holding a trumpet who must not blow it. His condition has become like a child who can not blow the trumpet because a man is dead. Likewise, he can not reveal his poverty to the false world.
The third stanza deals with his thoughts about life and his impression of a poor man with a light heart. In addition, his wife works throughout the day.
In the last stanza, the poet concludes that many of his friends have proven to be untrue. Despite having no money, he has a few real friends. Thus, the poem conveys the futility of materialism .
Theme in Marathi
